June News Flashes

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." --Groucho Marx

Stuff is happening. I like stuff, all kinds and all sorts of stuff. Some of my favorite stuff things are finding really neat writing forums as well as leads to publishers that are looking for submittals from newbies like you and I. This month I’ve found two very interesting ports of call. First is a new little forum called “The Grail.” It has a free newsletter as well as an absolutely wonderful forum. Needless to say, I have joined and find it to be quite habit forming. I copied the following information regarding the site.

THE GRAIL FREE NEWSLETTER

The Grail is a FREE monthly newsletter that publishes short stories, poetry, tips on writing etc. The Grail also hosts their own website which is set up to help writers.
Do you have a short story that needs editing? Post it on The Grail forum and receive feedback on how to improve it. Have you started a novel and you’re now sitting at a dead end? Post your chapters on The Grail for feedback. The Grail covers a wide variety of writing, ideal for beginner writers as well as the more advanced. Are you struggling with your writing, stuck for ideas? Try the ‘Flashers Corner’ in The Grail forum, where weekly prompts are added. Join in the Targeting thread, where each month the goal is to write a piece for a competition or magazine, everyone takes part in helping each other fine tune their work before they post it off. There’s several other threads, take a look for yourself. It’s FREE to join.

Next is a new ezine scheduled to be out in September
.
The Zine is called Pantechnicon, and Issue One will be released inSeptember . It's an eZine for Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror stories, articles and news. Magazine content will be quarterly, but reviews and news will be an ongoing feature. It's awesome! NOTE: They are currently looking for writers and if those intersted, as I am, check out their site they will see the submission guidelines. The address is http://www.pantechnicon.net/. Check it out!!

Remember, your comments and suggestions are always welcomeSites to see, places to go and groups to join

I’ll be adding to the above list as time goes on and I find more newbie friendly sites.
